About the event
Early American Art: Two-Part Series - Colonial Painting and Revolutionary Images
Part 1: Saturday, May 16 at 2:00 PM
Part 2: Saturday, May 30 at 2:00 PM
Celebrate America’s 250th with a visual journey through early American Art History—with added insights into art appreciation. This two-part program will first explore simple, straight-forward paintings by self-taught artists who gave us glimpses of life during the colonial era. Part 2 will be held on Saturday, May 30 and will rediscover important people and events of the Revolutionary War through the paintings of more accomplished artists, such as Copley, Trumbull, and Stuart. These programs are designed for people of all backgrounds, artists and non-artists alike. Join local Art Historian Jill Sanford to experience this important and pivotal time in America’s history.
This is a free event supported by the Westport Cultural Council through the Carol Vidal Cultural Fund and organized by the Friends…
