Beginning April 1st and continuing thoughout the month, Lenny Karp's wonderful portraits will be on exhibit in the Manton Room. His portraits and other paintings will be available for purchase.
Lenny began painting portraits for people who had lost loved ones, including pets, as a way of giving back for the blessings in his life. He spends about 15 hours on each painting, recreates them from photos, and personally delivers the portraits in private settings to respect the grief of recipients. Karp started painting at age 66 after retiring, inspired by a magazine he saw in an art supply store. He joined local art clubs, learned through classes and practice, and eventually switched to oil painting. His wife Patricia is his toughest critic, and he only considers a painting finished with her approval. Karp has painted over 100 portraits and believes anyone can pursue their passion through dedication and learning. For him, making these portraits is a way to provide comfort and honor those who are grieving.
